The 11th Hour screens at the UN Climate Change conference in Bali

By Christiana Wyly

The 11th Hour was shown to participants from around the world. As I am leaving, it is almost 11 o'clock, and the negotiations are going strong. The film was shown in the Sub-Plenary room. On 2 screens simultaneously. And despite the last minute event, and several time changes, people moved up close to the screens, and committed to a ninety minute Journey of the 11th hour.

Dozens more stood in the back. Came back and forth 10 times, called out by pagers and cell phones, returning to catch another glimpse. When it was over people from a dozen different countries approached me to thank me for bringing this message into the conference and into the world. "It must be shown in Istanbul! At the next COP! And at the COP in Poland!" "At my university in Brazil!" " How can we get it to the people of Indonesia?" "Seriously, how about starting the European Release with a Premiere in Istanbul!?" "Berkeley must be the first stop on the College tour!" They asked questions about the Experts, and were thrilled to know they can go to the Action site to learn more about each of them. And were excited to hear that there is an hour of solutions on the DVD.

Stickers flew off the table. And people stood in line to leave their names on the sign-up sheet. And were over-all anxious, to join the action.

It was a really rewarding opportunity, to connect with people from all over the world. To feel their desperation, and simultaneously their HOPE. And witness their tireless work, for a better future.
