Pinebrook Farm
Location
We are growing vegetables and large sunflowers on a quarter acre of land. This summer was busy so we didn't get to grow as much as we normally do. The spring was hot and dry which caused many seedlings to burn. The summer had violent storms that kept the soil powdery dry. The storms suck the moisture from the earth and dump it back thereby creating just topsoil moisture but not water deeper down. In the previous decade, April had gentle rain, as the saying goes "April showers bring May flowers," the past few years spring has been extremely dry. Our corn is not tall enough. The deer and rabbits have created havoc in our garden. It seems like the fox and the coyotes who are their natural predators, have disappeared.
