Action on Climate Change to be taken in the UK
Prime Minister Brown spoke in parliament today about Climate Change and the actions he wants to see taken http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/7101075.stm These are much stronger and more defined that we have had here before. He is taking a lot of flake in the media about many things since becoming prime minister so think this will make him even more unpopular with the side that does not want us to dwell on this subject. Very little has been reported on TV here today despite this important statement on the environment.
Much of what is in this bill was talked about at a meeting of Friends of the Earth UK that I attended in London in 2005 so I believe now, with this change of prime minister, they are being listened to. The Friends of the Earth have been campaigning for an 80% reduction in our carbon emissions by 2050 and this is what Brown today said that he wants. Think we need to give this new Prime Minister and chance and not listen too much to the people in the media who are constantly derogative about him as he seems to be sincere about this important issue.
