EcoVision Festival 2010

The sixth edition of EcoVision Festival will take place in Palermo, Italy, in June 2010.

All fiction and documentary feature films, short films or videos will be accepted by EcoVision Festival 2010.

The Festival aims at exalting and promoting cinematographic and environmental productions dealing with subjects such as man-environment problems, environment protection, human rights, deforestation, the relationship with the city and new technologies, radioactive experiments in various areas of the world, sustainable development, how the concept of environment in rich countries differs from that belonging to poor countries, but also mere descriptions of meaningful environmental areas, as well as all the productions concerning any aspect of environment and nature.

Works from any country, realized from 2008 to 2010, can take part in the EcoVision Festival 2010, having as topic the object of the Festival: the “environment”, considered both as natural and cultural environment, with all questions correlated with it. The Festival will consider as a preferential title, the unpublished films presented.

Fiction and documentaries, reports and animation films, which last no more than 30 minutes can take part in the competition. However, we will accept films longer than 30 minutes that can be screened in or out competition at the discretion of the Jury. Films produced in the following formats: 16 and 35 mm films, Betacam SP, NORMAL or DIGITAL, DVC Pro 25 or 50, HD Cam or DV Cam must be re-recorded on DVD  only in PAL standard for the preselection, the copy sent will not be used for the screening at the Festival. It is therefore necessary to send copy of the film in the format required at point 20, penalty the exclusion. In addition, the festival will not accept Mini-DV copies for the preselection. There will be four thematic areas in the Festival:

- Environmental

- Sociological

- Eco Tourist

- Panorama (works concerning any subject)

The works will be judged by an international Jury, composed by eminent personalities of the artistic, scientific, cultural and cinematographic world, as well as journalists, university teachers and directors. The Jury’s decision is final.

The Jury will award to the Best Film of all categories the following:

Great Prize Best Film “EcoVision Festival 2010”

And other Cash Prizes for the Films judged more meritorious by the final decision of the Jury.

The Jury could indicate, moreover, with especial mentions, films in competition with a particular value.

EcoVision Festival 2009 Edition

PRESS RELEASE “ECOVISION FESTIVAL 2009 EDITIONPALERMO, ITALY, JUNE 3/9  FORTALEZA, BRAZIL, JULY 18/24 The EcoVision Festival is an International Festival of Environment and Cinema, that since 2005, annually takes place in Palermo, Italy in June; during six days of afternoon and evening screenings of short and feature films, coming from over 75 countries of the world.The main topic, shared by all the films, is “the environment”, considered both as natural and cultural environment, with all the questions correlated with them. The EcoVision Festival gives space also to the topics of the Eco-Sustainability, of the Human Rights and the Globalization; moreover, during these years, the festival has encouraged a series of relationships and exchanges with the others cultural areas of the world, engaged to encourage the Eco-Sustainability and the respect of the Human Rights, obtaining the prestigious patronage of the Italian Commission of the UNESCO and, moreover, has established collaborations with the most important Worldwide Organizations also engaged on these social problems.The EcoVision Festival sets itself, as a significant and characterizing moment of meeting and comparison for the entire of the Italian and International Independent Cinema. The encouragement of the awareness with the contribution of works with a new emergent sensibility, realized by artists that signify these themes with subjects argued by a careful linguistic, formal and artistic pursuit; different languages in comparison, with common thematics such as war, death, generational relationships, love, hardships.The EcoVision Festival will offer to the audience, the opportunity to compare itself with different features but, in some way, near our own sensibilities, giving birth to that magic that always confers to the cinematographic image both the capability to condense a common sense and to get discover unknown lands.The EcoVision Festival, embracing the different ethnic groups, wants educated, through the screenings of films, animations, fictions and documentaries, trying so to contribute for a change to make the world socially more correct and Eco-Sustainable; in fact the festival awards the directors are able to let know and think about the environment and the social problems with the most agreeability, making the process of knowledge and information about the more burning questions, easily assimilable The EcoVision Festival, during these years, chosen as locations the most prestigious monumental venues of Palermo.During the festival, we give space to analyse the topics dealing by the selected films, to personages of the scientific, cultural and artistic world, referent points of the environmental, social and cultural field, engaged with publications, debates and conventions. Il festival celebrates and aides the cinematographic and documentaristic productions having prevalently the topics: the relationship man-environment, the safeguard of the territory, the Human Rights, the felling of forests, the relationship with the city and the new technologies, the radioactive tests in several world areas, the eco-sustainable development, the gap of the concept of the environment between richer countries from poorest countries, but also the mere descriptions of meaningful environmental areas and all the productions concerning any aspect of the environment and nature.The EcoVision Festival grown in prestigious and national and international interest becoming a referent point for filmmakers, professionals in the field, specialized press and the audience sensitized to the environmental and sociological problematics of our entire planet.During the screenings, the selected directors, coming from faraway countries, such as the United States, the Mexico, the Vietnam, the New Zealand, the Kenya, the Iran, every year in large number welcome our invitation with an active participation, comparing themselves with their colleagues and beginning a collaboration process.In the several festival editions, we discovered a great success of audience and media, with an affluence of about 10.000 attendances and several national and international televisions such as Rai Uno, Rai Due, TANGSHAN TV Station (China), France 3 (Image Plus), Swt Germany, Network Ireland, National Geographic, Gedeon Programmes, Canal +, Nvfi, Deutsche Welle Dw-Tv.The EcoVision Festival 2009 edition will take place in Palermo, Italy, from 3rd to 9th of June and in Fortaleza, Brazil, from 18th to 24th of July and will see in competition works produced from 2007 to 2009, selected between the thousands that arrived to the Headquarter of the festival; they will be submit to the decision of an International Jury making up by journalists, critics and national and international cultural aid workers that will award to the most meritorious film, for the conceiving, the production, the educational values and the subjects the “Great Prize EcoVision Festival 2009”.The institution of the “Great Prize EcoVision Festival 2009”, substantial cash prize that during the years has been offered by the "Fondazione Banco di Sicilia" has a relevant importance for the independent directors that self-produced the films; moreover, the festival will assign other cash prizes and mentions.The collaboration between the HARCO Association that have it’s headquarterin Fortaleza, Brazil, and the EcoVision Festival that will have in this way a new venue in Fortaleza from 18th to 24th of July in the Amphitheatre of the “Centro Cultural Dragão do Mar”, born to reawaken in the audience and in the media both the importance to preserve the environment and the sustainable development, and to highlight social question of a great emergency, in a world wasted by religious, ethnic, political and economic wars, so the Human Rights become the aim of the festival: abuse of power charge, stonings, death sentences and terrorism are now in our daily reality. The EcoVision Festival gained a great interest from the cultural operators of the HARCO Association of Fortaleza.
