Viva La Revolucion!

Awesome.

Shepard Fairy, Obey Giant and The 11th Hour Action Campaign

"I wanted to write a long explanation of why I’m doing this print to help promote the movie the 11th Hour and to generate funds for the 11thhouraction.com. Unfortunately, I’m short on time and so is planet Earth as we know it. Basically the film expands on the Earth crisis explained in an Inconvenient Truth. Global warming, deforestation, pollution, dependence on petroleum, and over -population. The film puts these issues in frightening perspective but also shows there are solutions. Skip the next Rob Sneider movie and to see the 11th Hour and you’ll be both avoiding pollution and educating yourself about it. If you won’t do it for yourself, do it for MY kid! Thanks"

Leading Man Leads a 'Green Revolution'

Top Story on Nightline:

” Leonardo DiCaprio says it was years ago when then-Vice President Al Gore took the time to explain to him the phenomenon of global warming and what it means for Earth.

“I was terrified, “DiCaprio said. “I think I was terrified, like anyone would be. And I didn’t quite understand the connection that we had as human beings and the fact that we could literally alter our climate in that way.”

Now the 32-year-old actor, whose career skyrocketed even as the on-screen Titanic sunk, is a passionate advocate for the environment and saving the planet. His documentary “The 11th Hour,” set for release this week, presents an argument that says, in a nutshell, “Time is running out. You need to listen and believe it.”

DiCaprio's 11th Hour Features Real Environmental Superstars...

Olivia Zaleski, NYC -

"Two weeks ago, fellow Treehugger George Spyros and I had the opportunity to catch a sneak preview of Leonardo Dicaprio’s The 11th Hour. Appropriately, the screening was held outdoors and under the stars at Marders, an organic nursery in Long Island. The film’s mantra, “Consume Less Live More.” Ironically, an adjacent shopping center blared signage for Gap, Yankee Candle Co, and T.J. Maxx.

A reference to the very last moment when change is possible, The 11th Hour, explores humanity’s past, present, and future: how we came to meet this desperate tipping point, how we live and impact our earth’s ecosystems, and what we must do to ensure a worthwhile future.

The film is a collection of vivid imagery accompanied by commentary and meditation from an impressive collection of political leaders, designers, and visionaries—a proverbial team of environmental rock stars. Cast members include former Soviet Prime Minister Mikhail Gorbachev, scientist Stephen Hawking, and sustainable design authority William McDonough. . . to name a few. In total, the film features 50 independent voices, bringing expertise, experience, and emotion to the crisis at hand. Their words are informative, powerful, and inspiring—perhaps some of the great quotes of our time..."

2007 will be a Year of Extreme Weather

CNN recently reported that around the globe, 2007 is on track to be a year of extreme weather... after the flooding in England, rising temperatures in our own Midwest and the random blizzards in South America, is anyone really all that surprised???

One article states: "The agency found that climate warming was unequivocal and most likely "due to human activities such as the burning of fossil fuels." "

A Message from my Mom

I have to admit that in the hopes of "being the change you want to see in the world," I have been dragging everyone I know down with me - my family and friends are never an exception! I am constantly writing emails, posting links and creating facebook updates about the various causes and events that I have been involved in over the past few years. Most recently, my mom has become one of the biggest cheerleaders for 11th Hour Action - she is an avid bike-rider, a loyal Wild Oats customer and is constantly emptying her fresh compost into the flowerbeds in her backyard!

Just today I received an email from my mom saying that she read an article about how environmentally un-friendly disposable diapers are. She immediately wanted to let me know that she had used CLOTH diapers on both my older brother and I when we were babies ... in fact, she didn't even dispose of them once we were finally potty-trained! Those cloth diapers STILL reside in a bin in our garage and are often used for a variety of cleaning and dusting projects.... Way to go Mom :)
